More of the story ...

I wasn't at the wedding ...but Chris and Rosalind were able to go and by all accounts it was a beautiful  beautiful wedding....  A storybook wedding !!!  A lovely setting on the St Lawrence  - Pembroke.  July 23, 2005

Jordan's Story ..

This is a story about a hero ....and the heroine he left behind.

Jordan is Chris's nephew by marriage. His brother Tim's daughter Amanda's husband to be exact.

Jordan was a soldier.  He was sent to Afghanistan - did two tours of duty there. Was a couple of weeks from completing that tour and was scheduled to return home when the armoured vehicle he was travelling in with 4 other soldiers and an interpretor hit a roadside bomb and all six were killed instantly. Jordan was 26 years old . He and Amanda had been married just less than 2 years.

He loved being a soldier,  he thought it was important.  I remember  Amanda and Jordan at our place for dinner one night and the discussion he and Chris had on that very subject.  He was proud to be a Canadian and a Canadian soldier.

He thought it was important. I can't get that thought out of my head !!  He thought it was important.

We're BAAAAACK !!!

After silence for a year and a half.... I've missed blogging .....so we are back in the blog swing of things.

The summer was glorious,   swimming 3 and 4 times a day ... and me sneaking in a little late night swim when everyone else was tucked away in bed for the night.

Fall came too quickly for us mermaids  !! But school started and the girls were back in the routine of Monday dress uniforms, homework, and projects and tests  !!  |Rosalind is a bit challenged as she is in a 6-7-8 class and so has hit the bigtime on the second floor ( middle school ).  A much more sedate, calm.... dare we say mature environment ...... Meanwhile Carolina is in Grade 3 which is one of the stretch years ( as opposed to Gr2 - a consolidation year ).  Both are settling in and doing well though ...
Hallowe'en was very cool this year.  Rosalind was an angel which worked well as her across the street Hallowe'ening trick n treating friend was a devil. Carolina was a vampire and quite enjoyed the face makeup that went with that charactor.  They brought back bags and bags of loot  - enough to last at least till the Easter Bunny hits the bunny trail.

This week is the week leading up to November 11th. Our thoughts go to Jordan and Amanda ... Chris's nephew and neice.   But thats all for the next blog..........................  so stay tuned.
