Ol' girl Ashes, about14 years old, is gettin old and tired. Ashes has gone from a skittish little fireball to a super mellow girl who just wants to sleep on your lap.

Our littlest , Mika... or at least she was when we got her. We think the Humane Society made a wee boo boo in guessing her age... she was supposed to be 6 weeks but our vet says she had to be on the young side of 4 weeks old. Now she is a very lllllllooooonnnnng girl, very sleek and still very much a kitten. She knows she is Carolina's cat. She sleeps on Carolina's bed and hangs out in her room ... I think she has the most beautiful little face !!!!! She is the most spirited of all the cats ... she whips in and out of all the bedrooms in the morning like some funny little early alarm system ...get up, get up, get up, get up !!! seems to be the message.

Now Maggie and Mika were adopted together . Maggie is my cat. She was supposedly 8 weeks when she was adopted a year ago last Labour day (2009). She pretty much put paid to the claim that Mika was 6 weeks old when we adopted her. Maggie is an amazing clone of my best cat friend ever - Sasha. When Chris took the girls to the Humane Society and saw her (while they were looking for a kitty for Carolina) he spotted her right away and called me to let me know. I couldn't, just couldn't resist. Maggie is still pretty aloof but she is mellowing quite a bit and I adore her. She doesn't sleep in my bed ( unlike Frankie and Mika ) and in fact I've no idea WHERE she sleeps but she does show affection and is a sweet little thing ( she is getting a bit pudgy so I've been taking the food bowl away before we all go to work in the morning ). She does have the makings of a petite gourmand !!!!

Frankie, well what can I say about Frankie. He is Rosalind's cat all the way !!! From the time she picked him up as a wee kitten and despite our attempts to convince her to check out the other kittens , she insisted that Frankie was the one. She was right - Frankie is her little orange shadow, follows her everywhere, sleeps up on her pillow, nuzzles her to greet her. Frankie was named after the first Frankie who was Tim and Shelly's cat. They asked us to look after Frank when they went on vacation . Big Frank pretty much hid out in the basement and Rosalind would go down and spend as much time as she could down there with him. Just days before he was to go home, she came running upstairs to let me know something was wrong with him. As it turned out he had a failing kidney - a problem which he had apparently had since kittenhood .... and the verdict was (when Chris took him to the emergency clinic) that there was nothing to be done for him. We called Tim and Shelley and they came down and said goodbye.... and the next day we had to tell the girls that Frank was gone. Rosalind was pretty upset about this and so when she got to choose her kitty , she named him after the first Frank.
