A Year of Blogging ....

Its been over a year since I started this blog ...when I started I wasnt sure this was something I was going to enjoy doing...

So I started with an entry on our two little baby kitty cats adopted Labour Day weekend last year. Its been a lot of fun going back over the entries ...the girls have really enjoyed going through the various entries from time to time and we've had more than a few laughs. So the blog continues .....

Yoo Hoo Oh Tooth Fairy - We've Got Another One !!

It happened again !!!!

Words fail !!! Well Carolina said there was another wiggly one and she was right. Now hopefully the Tooth Fairy can raid a piggy bank and find enough plunder to fund the taking of the tooth !!

Goodbye my Lesage Piano !!!!!

I am giving away my little Quebec- made Lesage piano on Monday next. This piano has been with me since the early 90's , travelled out west to Vancouver for three years with me and back and moved within Kitchener several times since. Unfortunately its main use for the past number of years, and I say this with great embarassement, has been mainly as a piece of furniture. I would still keep it if we had a nice little place for it but the fact of the matter is ... we do not. I am sure now that I've made that decision both girls will take up piano as a serious interest and possibly become concert pianists ... that is the way these things work is it not ?

Back in the days when the boys had left home and I was single, I got great enjoyment out of playing but with a serious, full-time relationship and then the arrival of two little girls ...life just got soooo very busy that the only time to play would be when everyone is sleeping ... not a great plan.

The good news is that its going to Scholars Hall - the girls' school - where I am hoping it will enjoy some good and regular use.

Exhausted Tooth Fairy Declares Bankruptcy

Just in case you 've not heard the news, the tooth fairy is seriously considering declaring bankruptcy but may also need to spend a couple of weeks on a beach in Florida recovering from over exertion!!!! Why just in the last 2 weeks at our house, 1 child has lost 3, yes count 'em 3 teeth !!!!

The poor tooth fairy was in fair shape for the first 2 trips to Carolina's pillow but the 3rd trip just about did her in .... the going rate for a tooth in Kitchener is $3 !!! Toonies and loonies are ok but dimes and nickels and quarters just about droooped her poor little wings permanently. The cause of all this distress is unrepentent declaring " I think there's another wiggly one back here ". This said rather unclearly with tongue twisted around teeth.
More on this at a later ( hopefully much much later ) date.

The Mighty Niagara

Time for a romantic weekend away again ...where to go, where to go - we decided on the worlds' favourite romantic spot : Niagara Falls. I won't dwell on the romantic aspects of the weekend except to say that it was without a doubt the LEAST romantic getaway we've ever had or hope to have.

The reason for this being that I was suffering from a very nasty cold which was working very hard at turning itself into bronchitis !!! It was all I could do to stand upright and smile !!!
Nevertheless there we were in lovely drizzly Niagara Falls for the weekend and determined to salvage something from the trip .... one doesn't rent a room at the Falls to be sick and stay inside. We bought the requisite t-shirts for the girls and went to the wax and historical museums and to the IMAX theatre where we saw the movie about Niagara which included all the folks who found it necessary to go over the Falls.

I am sorry but I cannot, absolutely cannot, figure out WHY someone would give going over the Falls a first thought never mind a second serious thought. The river above the falls is terrifying enough ( just look at the pictures ). The wildness of the river continues like this all the way upriver to the bridge ( about 15 - 20 km away maybe).

The Falls are apparently just a shadow of their former glory as so much water is controlled and diverted by hydro-electric plants on both the American and Canadian sides. They still look pretty magnificent however ...

What can one say ... it was a weekend away ...one I probably would have preferred to spent in bed drugged to the gills and hopefully sleeping away the nasty bronchitis ( and I am sure Chris would concur with this assessment)

The girls had a fantabulous time at home with their favourite babysitter, Chelsea, all to themselves and for an entire weekend !!! Nails were painted, hair was done and redone and heaven only knows what else. Getting rid of the parents can be an ok thing, it seems, from time to time and they do get neat t-shirts out of the deal too when wayward parents return home.
